Man Found Guilty Of Stabbing Wife To Death In-front Of Daughter (5) Then Lying About Break-In
The Mitchell’s Plain Regional Court has finally brought justice after nearly a decade, convicting Donovan Titus for the murder of his wife Candice.
The case, which has haunted the local community and the family, reached a bittersweet conclusion last week.
On August 7, 2015, Candice Titus, a 28-year-old mother and banking professional, was violently stabbed 30 times by her husband Donovan in the presence of their five-year-old daughter.
The young girl, in a desperate bid to survive, pretended to be asleep during the horrific incident. Today, she faces the harsh reality of living without both her parents.
The lengthy court proceedings saw Donovan Titus pleading not guilty, alleging that an intruder was responsible for the crime.
However, inconsistencies in his story, including the lack of forced entry and injuries on his own body, led to heightened suspicions.
His claims of experiencing confusion and hallucinations while under medication were dismissed when the state presented a message he sent to his brother, admitting the crime. Additionally, a compelling witness account from his daughter further strengthened the prosecution’s case.
With the evidence stacked against him, Magistrate Mary Jawcu revoked Donovan’s bail and ordered his immediate transfer to Pollsmoor Prison.
The National Prosecuting Authority confirmed the guilty verdict, with sentencing proceedings set for September 3, 2024. Donovan’s legal team has since recused themselves, and he is now seeking a legal aid attorney.

Candice’s mother, Sandra Bowers, who has become the legal guardian of the couple’s daughter, emphasized the importance of accountability. “If you do something wrong, you need to pay for it,” she explains.
Now, the family’s focus is on the well-being and future of the young girl, who must navigate her teenage years without her parents.
