A Limpopo woman may face legal consequences after a video of her allegedly assaulting a mentally ill intruder went viral on social media.
The incident occurred when the mentally challenged woman entered the homeowner’s bedroom, prompting the homeowner to take matters into her own hands.

The video, which circulated on social media platforms, caught the attention of the mentally challenged woman’s children. Outraged by the alleged assault, they promptly went to the police station to file a case against the homeowner.
According to police spokesperson Brigr Hlulani Mashaba, the homeowner had previously lodged her own complaint against the mentally challenged woman for malicious damage to property and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. She claimed that the intruder had caused damage amounting to R2,500 in her home.
On October 14, 2023, at approximately 5 am, the homeowner discovered the stranger inside her house in GaMadiba village. The intruder allegedly directed profanities towards the homeowner and proceeded to damage household items and clothing.
Law enforcement was called to the scene, and the mentally challenged woman was taken to Lebowakgomo Thabamoopo hospital for mental observation. The police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
