Lindani Gcumisa Sentenced To Four Life Terms For Raping Four Young Boys

Lindani Gcumisa, 46, was sentenced to four life terms in prison by the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court for raping four young boys at his home in Imbali Unit 18.
The crimes were committed between February and March 2024.

Gcumisa, known as ‘Uncle Lee’, preyed on his victims, aged 9, 10, 12, and 13, exploiting their trust and innocence.
Investigation And Conviction
The investigation began after a 12-year-old boy reported being raped by Gcumisa on February 23, 2024.
The boy had been sent to a tuck shop and was lured to Gcumisa’s room, where he was assaulted.

Further investigation revealed that Gcumisa had also raped the boy’s friends, including a 9-year-old sibling of one of the victims.
The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit detectives collected crucial evidence, leading to Gcumisa’s conviction.
Reaction From Authorities
Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu-Natal Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi condemned the suspects for violating the young boys.

Mkhwanazi said, “Rape remains a cause for concern for police in KwaZulu-Natal, and sentences like this encourage us to work harder in solving cases of rape.
“Victims are also encouraged to speak out and open cases knowing that justice will be served.
“This sentence brings closure to the victims and their families, ensuring that Gcumisa can no longer harm innocent children.”
