Details of the Investigation

Gauteng police spokesperson, Col Mavela Masondo, confirmed that a body was unearthed in a shallow grave in Heidelberg after police acted on a tip-off.

According to sources close to the ongoing investigation, intelligence suggested that authorities should investigate Pyne’s former residence.

Once on the scene, police were able to locate the remains within hours. Masondo emphasized that the arrest was made in connection to this tragic find, with Pyne expected to face murder charges in court on Monday.

The Background of Jaen-Lee Pyne’s Initial Arrest

Earlier this year, Pyne was linked to the fatal shooting of CPF member Etienne du Preez and the serious wounding of CPF chairperson Flip Minnaar.

SurgeZirc SA understands that his earlier arrest led to a complex legal entanglement, wherein the court initially denied his bail application, only for him to be released in a surprising high court decision last Friday, which proceeded without the knowledge of law enforcement or victim families.

Following the latest events, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has remained silent regarding inquiries into Pyne’s previous bail situation. The future of this case and how it unfolds in court remains to be seen as law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body.
