The investigation has led the team of detectives to visit various places within the West Coast town and interview several other persons.
The search for Joslin has brought together individuals, NGOs, community activists, police officials, neighbourhood watches, and representatives from different spheres of government in the quest to find the missing girl. They have tirelessly searched vast areas in Saldanha Bay.
“It is envisaged that as the investigation unfolds, light will be shed as to her whereabouts or what happened to her,” said Potelwa.
The team of investigators is currently interviewing two men and two women aged between 26 and 34. Sources close to the investigation revealed that two of the suspects allegedly confessed to selling Joslin to a Middelpos man for R20,000.
The tragic disappearance of Joslin, a Laerskool Diazville pupil, on 19 February has gripped the nation. A massive search operation was launched in a race against time to find the young girl with the sunny smile.
Joslin’s mother, Kelly Smith, reported her daughter missing 16 days ago. According to Kelly, Joslin was feeling unwell on that fateful Monday, so she entrusted her care to her boyfriend, Jacquin “Boeta” Appollis.
When Kelly returned from work that evening, Joslin was nowhere to be found. Appollis claimed to have lost track of her whereabouts after she went outside to play.
The couple has faced accusations from some community members regarding their involvement in Joslin’s disappearance, which they vehemently deny. As a result, they have been relocated to a safehouse for their safety.
The investigation continues, and the hope remains that Joslin will be found and brought back safely to her family.
