MEC for Police Oversight and Community Safety, Reagen Allen, expressed his deep concern and horror at the events unfolding in Gugulethu. The recent quarterly crime statistics have revealed a staggering 37.2% increase in the murder rate in the area. Despite the progress made in combating crime, Allen stressed the importance of maintaining these positive strides and preventing criminals from regaining control.

Allen’s sentiment echoes the sentiments of the entire community, who are fed up with the cheapness of life and the audacity of heartless killers. The arrest of these criminals must be swift and decisive, sending a clear message that justice will prevail. Life is precious, and no individual should have the power to take it away with impunity.
