Linda Kabeli, spokesperson for Gugulethu’s CPF, expressed the deep concern and trauma that the community is currently grappling with. This mass killing has struck at the heart of their neighborhood, leaving a profound sense of fear and unease. Kabeli emphasized the urgent need for the police to apprehend the shooters and restore a semblance of peace and security to the lives of Gugulethu residents.

The CPF has taken immediate action and initiated plans for a crime prevention march in the coming weeks. This mobilization aims to send a resounding message to criminals that their reign of terror will no longer be tolerated. MEC for Police Oversight and Community Safety, Reagen Allen, expressed his deep concern and horror at the events unfolding in Gugulethu. The recent quarterly crime statistics have revealed a staggering 37.2% increase in the murder rate in the area. Despite the progress made in combating crime, Allen stressed the importance of maintaining these positive strides and preventing criminals from regaining control.

Allen’s sentiment echoes the sentiments of the entire community, who are fed up with the cheapness of life and the audacity of heartless killers. The arrest of these criminals must be swift and decisive, sending a clear message that justice will prevail. Life is precious, and no individual should have the power to take it away with impunity.
