One of the standout features is multi-select filters, which allow users to quickly organise and prioritise messages.
With top creators receiving hundreds of DMs daily, this update helps them focus on what really matters. Users can add, edit, or remove filters, ensuring that the system adapts to their personal workflow.
Custom Folders and Shortcuts to Streamline DMs
Beyond filters, the platform has also introduced the ability to create custom shortcuts and folders. Creators can now build folders that reflect their preferences, reorder them based on the most-used message types, and access high-priority messages faster.

According to Instagram, these updates give “creators the freedom to explore their creativity while building workflows that work best for them.” The features are designed to reduce clutter and allow influencers to engage more effectively with their communities.
Who Gets Access to Instagram’s New Inbox Features?
For now, these inbox upgrades are exclusive to influencers and professional accounts with over 100,000 followers. Everyday users won’t see these tools in their DMs just yet.
However, Instagram hasn’t left casual users out entirely.

The platform recently rolled out other updates, including a new map feature to track friends and a tool that lets people reset all of their recommendations—though the friend-tracking map has stirred some controversy.
