Four Suspects Arrested In Khayelitsha For Multiple Murders, Extortion

Four suspects allegedly involved in multiple murders, attempted murders, and extortion activities in Khayelitsha were arrested in a well-coordinated police operation on April 2, 2025.

The arrests follow an intensive search for the wanted individuals, who had been on the run for over a year.

The operation, carried out between 10 am and 4 pm, resulted in the confiscation of several illegal firearms and ammunition.

Police Operation Results In Successful Arrests

The operation was executed by multiple units of the South African Police Service (SAPS), including Crime Intelligence, Khayelitsha CIMAC, Khayelitsha Detectives, and the Tactical Response Team (TRT).

The police raided several locations across various townships, including Samora Machel, Wesbank, Kleinvlei, and Mfuleni, where they arrested four suspects between the ages of 23 and 28.

Lieutenant Colonel Malcolm Pojie, police spokesperson, stated that the operation targeted individuals actively involved in a series of violent crimes.

“This operation aimed to neutralize and apprehend criminals linked to murders, attempted murders, and extortion in Khayelitsha,” Pojie said.

The successful takedown marks a significant victory for local law enforcement efforts to combat crime in the region.

Illegal Firearms Confiscated During Operation

During the arrest operation, SAPS officers seized multiple illegal firearms, including a Luger 9mm pistol, a Retay Blank 9mm firearm, a Pietro Beretta 7.65mm with ammunition, and a Glock 19 Austria pistol.

The firearms, along with over 70 rounds of ammunition, were recovered from the suspects’ possession.

Charges And Court Appearance for Suspects

The four suspects now face serious charges, including multiple murders, attempted murders, extortion, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

Two of the suspects, aged 23 and 24, are linked to seven murders and two attempted murders, and have been on the run for over a year.

They will be added to a separate case involving two other suspects arrested in April 2024 for the same crimes.

The other two suspects, face charges of unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.

All four suspects are expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Friday, April 4, 2025, where their cases will be heard.
