Family Friend Arrested At Scene After Alleged Rape Of 15-Year-Old Girl In Limpopo

A 37-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly raping a 15-year-old girl at her family home in Chavani Riverside Section, within the Waterval policing area in Limpopo.

The suspect, who is reportedly known to the family as a friend, was arrested at the scene after the teenager’s mother allegedly discovered him inside the house under disturbing circumstances.

According to the information released by police, the incident happened on Friday, 6 November 2026, at approximately 08:45.

Mother Returns Home And Makes Disturbing Discovery

The teenager was reportedly at home with her 40-year-old mother when the woman left to travel to Nkuna Kraal Mall in her vehicle. However, while on her way, the mother realised that she had forgotten her bank card and decided to return home.

When she arrived, she allegedly found the house door locked and knocked for someone to open it. Her daughter answered the door wearing only a towel, raising the mother's suspicions.

After entering the house, the mother reportedly found the 37-year-old suspect inside, dressed only in a pair of trousers.

Family Friend Accused Of Forcing Teenager Into Bedroom

Reports indicate that the suspect had allegedly arrived at the home, forced the teenager into a bedroom and covered her mouth with his hands before raping her.

The man was reportedly known to the family as a friend, making the allegations particularly distressing.

The mother immediately contacted the police after discovering what had allegedly happened. Officers responded, and the suspect was arrested at the scene.

A rape case was subsequently opened, with the 37-year-old man remaining in custody following his arrest.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Waterval Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 9 November 2026, where he will face a charge of rape.
