Four Arrested After Suspected Drug Lab Found At Meadowlands Family Home

Four people have been arrested after police uncovered a suspected drug laboratory at a family home in Meadowlands, Soweto. The suspects, aged between 21 and 25, were detained on Friday during a coordinated operation involving several police units and the Hawks. They are expected to appear in court on drug-related charges.

Gauteng Organised Crime Investigations’ Tracing and Narcotics teams joined Police Emergency Services Flexi and the Hawks’ Serious Organised Crime Investigations unit to investigate. Further intelligence suggested the suspects might be preparing to move suspected drugs.

Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili said officers proceeded to the premises after receiving the additional information. Four suspects were arrested during the operation, and investigators discovered the suspected manufacturing operation inside a room at the back of the house. The property was identified as a family residence.

"Further information received indicated that the suspects might be in the process of moving suspected drugs. The team subsequently proceeded to the premises, where four suspects were arrested.

"The premises is a family residence, and police discovered the drug-manufacturing operation in a room situated at the back of the house."

The Meadowlands drug lab suspects are expected to appear before court soon to face drug-related charges, according to Muridili. The four men are between 21 and 25 years old. Further details about the suspected operation have not been provided.
