A man has been arrested in north Durban after an 11-year-old girl reportedly disclosed repeated sexual abuse to emergency responders. Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said the child's mother contacted its operations centre early on Saturday, 10 October 2026, seeking assistance. The suspect was arrested and handed over to police for further investigation.

EThekwini Sexual Abuse Allegations Lead To Arrest

The eThekwini sexual abuse case came to light after the girl's mother called RUSA at approximately 06:21. According to the organisation, the mother said she had interrupted an alleged incident involving her boyfriend and daughter the previous night. She later learnt of allegations of previous assaults after speaking to the child.

Reaction officers and RUSA paramedics were dispatched to the residence in north Durban. During a separate conversation with paramedics, the girl reportedly disclosed repeated abuse by her stepfather. She said fear had prevented her from reporting the alleged incidents earlier.

North Durban Abuse Allegations Reported To Police

Following the disclosure, the north Durban abuse suspect was arrested and handed over to the South African Police Service in KwaZulu-Natal. Police are expected to investigate the allegations and establish the circumstances surrounding the case. The suspect's arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

RUSA has withheld identifying details to protect the 11-year-old girl. The allegations were reported on Saturday morning after the child's mother sought assistance from the emergency response organisation. The matter has been referred to SAPS for further investigation.
