In the world of activism and social justice, alliances can be formed and broken in the blink of an eye. Such is the case with the once-united front of Penny Lebyane and Ntsiki Mazwai.
These two influential figures were once standing together against gender-based violence and women’s issues, but recent events have caused a rift between them.

It all started when Thato ‘Fresh’ Sikwane and Themba ‘DJ Euphonik’ Nkosi were accused of rape by a woman in Pretoria. Penny and Ntsiki found themselves on the same side, condemning the alleged perpetrators and demanding justice for the victim.
However, things took a turn when Ntsiki made some controversial and irresponsible tweets, calling Fresh an abuser.
This led to Fresh taking legal action against Ntsiki for defamation, and Penny got inadvertently dragged into the drama.
While Penny had a few words to say about the matter, she has since come forward to clarify any speculations about her alleged friendship with Ntsiki.
In a recent interview, Penny addressed the situation and made it clear that she and Ntsiki are not close friends. “It’s not like we are bosom buddies,” she told Zimoja.
“I’m tired of being roped in every time Ntsiki has something to say. Yes, we were both involved in a court case, but that is where our connection ends.”
Penny also revealed that she has been blocked by Ntsiki on X (formerly Twitter). “She’s blocked me, and it’s not the first time. I’m my own person. Even at the roast of Minnie Dlamini, they said the only friend I have is Ntsiki,” Penny expressed.
“We don’t even talk. People have this perception that we hang out like we are bosom buddies. Stop dragging me into her things.”
Penny went on to vent her frustrations on social media, distancing herself from Ntsiki and the controversies surrounding her.
“I wear a weave and always have. I was dragged into a case, and I have every right to defend myself as a matter of principle,” Penny explained. ”

Contrary to an unfounded popular belief, I’m not in a clique or tag team of sorts with anyone, so please stop tagging me in your war with Ntsiki.”
It seems that Penny is determined to assert her independence and separate herself from any association with Ntsiki.
While they may have once stood together in solidarity, their paths have diverged, and it’s clear that they are no longer on the same page.
