Shauwn “Mamkhize” Mkhize, the reality TV star and businesswoman, found herself at the centre of attention this week after her interview on Carte Blanche.
The interview, conducted by journalist and presenter Govan Whittles, delved into the allegations of Mamkhize being a convicted fraudster.
In a bid to clear her name, Mamkhize faced the evidence presented by Whittles, revealing her past conviction for fraud in 2005, which had later been expunged from her record.
However, Mamkhize stood her ground, vehemently denying all allegations of wrongdoing. “My record is clean,” she declared. “I have never been charged personally with fraud.”
Of course, the internet had a field day with the interview, with users taking to social media to share their thoughts.
Some defended Mamkhize, seeing the allegations as an attempt to tarnish the reputation of a successful black businesswoman. Others, however, saw the interview as a potential career suicide, while some simply couldn’t help but laugh at her evasive answers.
One user quipped, “Mamkhize thought she was going to a podcast ka penuel. She didn’t expect she’d be dealing with investigative journalists.”
Another user questioned the decision to allow Mamkhize to do the interview, stating, “I don’t know whose idea it was to let Mamkhize face Carte Blanche. Even her lawyers were there, and they couldn’t stop her from getting ‘bodied’.”
Here are some of the reactions below:
