The wife of Lion King music producer Lebo Morake, known as Lebo M, has taken him to court after he refused her access to their home in Waterfall Country Estate in Midrand. Pretty Samuels-Morake applied for a protection order against Lebo, and the couple recently appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court for the hearing.
In her affidavit to support her protection order, Samuels-Morake alleged that Lebo M has been emotionally and financially abusive towards her. She claimed that he has also humiliated her in public due to their recent marital disagreements. Samuels-Morake stated that she has been denied access to their marital home and is currently homeless and unsheltered.
Samuels-Morake further mentioned in her affidavit that she was advised that Lebo M’s actions amount to domestic abuse. She claimed that she was locked out of the house after refusing to sign divorce settlement papers drawn up by Lebo M and his lawyers.
A source close to the situation revealed that Samuels-Morake will remain homeless until December 5, when the couple is scheduled to reappear in court. However, the source believes that she may not succeed in her case against Morake due to his employment of powerful lawyers.
Lebo M publicly announced his intention to file for divorce in August, but it appears that Samuels-Morake is not yet ready to let go of their marriage. In the protection order, she stated that she doesn’t have a place to stay since she has been evicted from her marital home.
According to Samuels-Morake’s affidavit, she was told to vacate the house by the complex manager on August 23, 2023. When she returned from KZN on August 20, she was not granted access to their home and had to seek shelter at a friend’s house.
She expressed her frustration, stating, “I have nowhere else to go and no place to sleep since he (Lebo) also took away my access to our Cedar apartment. I have just finished refurbishing the Cedar apartment and spent hundreds of thousands buying new furniture and effecting renovations.”
Samuels-Morake also mentioned that she and Lebo M are in the midst of shooting a documentary where they are the main characters in the cast, with the storyline based on their family. She confirmed that Lebo M is not physically violent towards her but expressed her need for access to shelter and finances.

Lebo M, in response to the allegations, stated that the matter was postponed to allow him to file his response. He denied the existence of a protection order against him and clarified that he was only served with a notice to show cause why the protection order sought against him should not be granted.
The court case between Lebo M and his wife, Pretty Samuels-Morake, has shed light on allegations of emotional and financial abuse, as well as homelessness. While the outcome of the case remains uncertain, it is a reminder of the complexities and challenges faced within marriages and relationships.
