Former Minister Bathabile Dlamini’s Glow-Up Era: “I’m Still Here, Shaping Up!”

Former ANC Women’s League president Bathabile Dlamini is stepping into her soft life era — and she’s not here for the judgement.
The seasoned politician recently made waves on Instagram when Dr Sandi Medical Aesthetics shared a video of her getting wrinkle-relaxing injections, a non-invasive treatment designed to smooth out fine lines and freshen up the face. Think youthful radiance, minus the surgery.

“These injections work by temporarily relaxing the facial muscles responsible for creating expression lines,” the clinic explained, “resulting in a more refreshed appearance.”

But while the internet buzzed over her beauty choice, Dlamini had her own message: don’t reduce me to just my looks.
“I must express my discomfort with the focus on my personal life, particularly the aspects you mentioned,” she said in a follow-up statement. “The narratives around African women often highlight our time in government but ignore our lives afterward.”

Dlamini didn’t hold back. “Where were you when I was facing R2 million fines, or when I testified at commissions of inquiry?” she asked, referencing her 2022 perjury conviction related to the 2017 social grants crisis.

Beauty and the Politics
Dlamini isn’t the only ex-cabinet member embracing health and wellness in the public eye.
Busisiwe Mkhwebane, 55, former Public Protector, is now sharing her Forever Living aloe product routine online — from tooth gel to rash remedies and pre-workout heat rubs. “No sickness, no disease. I’m healthy, and I’m a businesswoman too!” she told followers.
And then there’s Lindiwe Zulu, 66, who is literally sweating it out. The former social development minister has been serving fitness inspiration on her socials with a fierce workout journey. “Winter bodies are made in summer,” she posted. “Fat doesn’t rest. Don’t let it settle!”
