32-Year-Old Influential Scientist Stabbed To Death By Partner

On July 11, 2024, the scientific community and South Africa as a whole were shaken by the tragic news of the brutal murder of Dorcas Lekganyane, a 32-year-old scientist recently named among the top 200 young people in South Africa.
Lekganyane was found with multiple stab wounds at her home in Bramley, Johannesburg. According to reports, police responded to a domestic violence incident and discovered Dorcas Lekganyane with several stabbing wounds.
Her partner, who was also at the scene, was allegedly attempting to commit suicide after the murder. He was immediately taken to the hospital and placed under police guard. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that as soon as he is medically able to appear in court, he will be charged with murder.
