US Missionary Josh Sullivan Kidnapped At Gunpoint In Gqeberha, Ransom Demanded

A US missionary pastor, Josh Sullivan, was kidnapped at gunpoint during a church service in Gqeberha’s Motherwell area on the evening of Thursday, April 10.

The incident occurred around 7pm, according to the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, also known as the Hawks.

Eastern Cape Hawks spokesperson, Warrant Officer Ndiphiwe Mhlakhuvana, confirmed that four unidentified armed suspects stormed the church, forced Pastor Sullivan into his own Toyota Fortuner, and fled the scene.

The vehicle was later found abandoned in the Motherwell area.

Two mobile phones were also taken during the abduction.

Ransom Demanded, Police Launch Specialised Task Force

The kidnappers have since issued a ransom demand, though the exact amount has not been disclosed.

In response, a multidisciplinary task team comprising specialised police units has been activated to investigate the case, track down the suspects, and locate the victim.

According to Mhlakhuvana, “the joint team is currently following all possible leads to rescue the victim and arrest the perpetrators.”

Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information, assuring that all tips will be handled with the strictest confidentiality.
