University Of Limpopo Student Found Dead Near Campus In Sovenga

Police in Mankweng have opened an inquest after the body of a 22-year-old University of Limpopo student was discovered near the university campus in Sovenga on Sunday morning. The woman was found at about 6am along Sovenga Street, close to the university's campus fence. The circumstances surrounding her death remain under investigation.

Police said officers were conducting patrols when they received information about a woman lying motionless near the fence. They went to the location and found the student's body near a trench. Emergency Medical Services later attended the scene and confirmed that she had died.

Limpopo police spokesperson Hlulani Mashaba said the woman was found partially clothed, with her head positioned inside a trench alongside the campus fence.

Officers examined the scene but did not observe any visible external injuries on the body. Her identity document and NSFAS card were reportedly found in a bag next to her.

"Upon arrival, police found the body of the female victim partially clothed with her head positioned inside a trench adjacent to the fence."

Emergency Medical Services were called after police discovered the woman. Medical personnel subsequently declared her dead at the scene. Police have not indicated that any other person has been linked to the death.
