Guys, apparently the Nomzamo Mbatha isn’t supposed to celebrate the wins of Shaka Ilembe as his (Shaka) family reportedly sees it as disrespectful. Iyoh, imagine nje!

So let’s get into it. The past weekend the show scored big at the t the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs). The international actress is buzzing about the production’s success and accolades. I mean, she is so excited and you can just tell from her Instagram timeline that sis is proud of her hard work.

The Mhlongo Clan Speaks Out

But not so fast as not everyone is as thrilled. The Mhlongo family, who claim to be related to the legendary Shaka Zulu, reckon that Nomzamo has crossed a line.

They’re accusing her of disrespecting their heritage and distorting history. Their spokesperson, Mhlathuze Mhlongo, didn’t hold back, claiming that the show was made without their consent and the production misrepresented Zulu culture. He said it was like “spitting on Nandi’s grave,” referring to Shaka’s mother. Ouch, right?

Nomzamo Mbatha’s Heartfelt Celebration

Despite the backlash, shame Nomzamo still took to social media to acknowledge the recognition she received for her role—her first nomination for Best Actress at the South African Film and Television Awards.
