It's too early to tell if Redfall will live up to Arkane's legacy. However, it's clear that the developer is content to build on its more well-known gameplay mechanics rather than taking risks as it did with Deathloop.

Although it is a few months later than expected, Arkane’s next big game is (relatively) close at hand. Redfall will be available on May 2nd for Xbox Series X/S and Windows PCs, with launch day access available via Game Pass.

As previously stated, the vampire-slaying shooter is an expansion of the Dishonored and Prey formulas — it’s a stealth-friendly game designed with multiplayer and unpredictability in mind.

Redfall, like other Arkane games, is based on player choice. You can fight the vampires who have taken over the game’s nameake town directly, but you’ll be rewarded if you take a more stealthy approach or make clever use of your equipment.

The open-world concept isn’t new (Prey had it), but the character selection and online play are.

In co-op mode, you can choose a hero who reflects your play style, and up to four people can take on the villains. Certain strategies are only effective when used as part of a team.

The open-ended gameplay adds some variety, but weapons with randomized stats and customization are also on the way. Some mechanics will be recognized.

Activities outside of the main story missions (such as rescuing survivors), skill trees, and other systems that encourage doing more than the essentials are available.

It’s too early to tell if Redfall will live up to Arkane’s legacy. However, it’s clear that the developer is content to build on its more well-known gameplay mechanics rather than taking risks as it did with Deathloop.
