Soweto-based company Khoi Tech has recently introduced its latest innovation, the Afriwatch1 smartwatch, in partnership with Telkom. This cutting-edge smartwatch is now available for purchase at Telkom stores and through the mobile network’s online shop.
The Afriwatch1 is equipped with advanced features that allow users to track key health metrics such as heart rate, body temperature, blood oxygen levels, and sleep and stress patterns.

With up to five days of continuous health monitoring on a single charge and support for 12 exercise modes, remote music control, messaging, and more, this smartwatch is a true powerhouse, according to Khoi Tech.
Khoi Tech has invested significant time and effort in refining the technology of the Afriwatch1.
The company conducted dedicated research, development, and clinical trials in collaboration with Soweto healthcare provider, Vilakazi Health Care. As a result, the smartwatch has achieved an average accuracy rate of 94% for vital health data.
The Afriwatch1 was developed in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, with the aim of providing users with a comprehensive health monitoring solution.
Khoi Tech presented its concept to Telkom, which recognized its potential and provided a grant of R500,000 through its FutureMakers program to support the business.
In addition to retail sales, Khoi Tech also offers the Afriwatch1 to companies and organizations for their employee wellness programs. The smartwatch features an alert function that instantly notifies employers and next of kin in case of an emergency.
Khoi Tech believes that products like the Afriwatch1 are setting the global standard for innovation from Africa. The company sees itself as a visionary in the industry and is proud to contribute to the future of technology.
The Afriwatch1 is competitively priced at R2,479 as a standalone purchase on Telkom when paired with the FlexOn prepaid package. Alternatively, customers can choose to purchase the smartwatch with a 2GB data SIM for R2,628.
These prices position the Afriwatch1 in direct competition with popular smartwatches such as the Garmin Forerunner 45, Samsung Galaxy Watch 4, and Xiaomi Redmi Watch 3.
While the Afriwatch1 offers a range of advanced features, there are also several budget-friendly smartwatches available in the market with similar specifications, priced below R1,000.
To connect the Afriwatch1 to a smartphone, users can download the Zeroner or Zeofit app from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. These apps, developed by a Chinese developer, are commonly used to pair budget smartwatches sold in China.
Additional hardware features of the Afriwatch1 include a 1.65-inch LCD colour display and a 170mAh battery, which offers a claimed usage time of up to one week between charges. The smartwatch is powered by the Goodix GR5515 chip, which is also utilized in various budget smartwatches.
