Introducing Mauga, The New Overwatch 2 Hero

But that's not all Blizzard had in store for Overwatch 2. Game director Aaron Keller shared some exciting details about what's to come in 2024. The next competitive game mode, Clash, introduces a new objective-based gameplay.

BlizzCon is here, and Overwatch fans are in for a treat! During the opening ceremony, Blizzard announced the next hero coming to Overwatch 2 – Mauga. This highly anticipated tank hero is none other than Baptiste’s old running buddy.

Mauga is a force to be reckoned with. Armed with a pair of chainguns, he brings a whole new level of firepower to the battlefield. One of his standout abilities is an unstoppable charge that can knock enemies off maps, creating chaos and disrupting the opposing team’s strategy.

But Mauga isn’t just about offense. He also has a supportive side. With his damage reduction ability, he can protect and heal nearby allies when they attack enemies. This makes him a valuable asset for any team looking to push forward and dominate the objective.

And let’s not forget about his ultimate ability – a true game-changer. Mauga traps nearby opponents in a cage match, giving his team a significant advantage. During this time, he has unlimited ammo, allowing him to rain down destruction on his trapped enemies.

The best part? You don’t have to wait long to try out Mauga for yourself. Blizzard is giving players a chance to play as the new hero before he officially joins the roster. Starting from Overwatch 2’s eighth season in December, Mauga will be available in most game modes on all platforms. And if you’re lucky enough to be attending BlizzCon, you can even try him out on site.

This announcement has been a long time coming for fans. Mauga has been a highly anticipated addition to the game, and Blizzard has finally delivered. The inclusion of references to Mauga in the latest Overwatch 2 map, Samoa, only fueled the excitement further.

Teams will compete to capture five points in a row or reach a maximum score. The first map for this mode will be a fresh take on the beloved Hanamura.

Additionally, Overwatch 2 will be receiving a major rework of the competitive system, complete with new rewards.

Each upcoming season will have its own unique theme, ranging from eldritch horror to Egyptian mythology and even a mirror universe where heroes and villains switch roles.

And the hero roster will continue to expand. In 2024, players can look forward to the arrival of three new heroes.
