‘EVE Online’ Finally Runs Natively On The Mac After Years Of Waiting

After years of anticipation and nearly a year of teasing, EVE Online is now ‘properly’ playable on a Mac.

CCP Games has released the first truly native EVE client for both Intel- and Apple Silicon-based Macs, eliminating the need for a compatibility layer to play the spaceship-focused MMO.

As you might expect, this should improve performance and reduce memory demands, but it also enables Mac-native keyboard and mouse commands that were previously unavailable.

The game is still free to play, but CCP clearly hopes you’ll be engrossed enough to spend real money. Mac users will have access to the same game universe as Windows users.

This isn’t about to upend the gaming computer market. There are only so many people who prefer Macs and are adamant about playing EVE Online.

However, this could significantly increase the number of Macs that can play EVE in the first place, making the game an obvious choice if you’re looking for Mac-friendly online titles other than World of Warcraft.
