WhatsApp Will Now Allow You Join In-Progress Group Calls

The addition acknowledges that Zoom and other more flexible video chat services remain popular even as the pandemic (hopefully) comes to an end.

WhatsApp group chats are about to behave more like Zoom calls and other more informal chats. The company has begun to roll out the ability to join group calls that are already in progress, rather than having to be present (and stay) when the call begins.

You are free to come and go as you please as long as you were invited in the first place.

A call information screen is also available to show who is participating in and invited to a chat. Also, don’t be concerned if you have to click “ignore” for a call; the door will remain open if you want to join later.
