Orlando Pirates recently announced that Thembinkosi Lorch, the footballer who was suspended following legal proceedings, will be allowed to rejoin club activities starting from December 13, 2023.
This decision comes after Lorch’s suspension, which was in response to his assault case involving his ex-girlfriend, Fundiswa Nokuphiwa Mathithibala, in 2020.

Following the conclusion of the legal proceedings, Lorch was fined R100,000 and given a 5-year suspended sentence. In line with the club’s rules and pledge, Orlando Pirates took immediate action and removed Lorch from all club activities until December 12.
During his suspension period, Lorch demonstrated accountability for his actions and took significant measures to address them.
He willingly participated in a clinical evaluation and committed to following any recommended follow-up care. Lorch has expressed his steadfast dedication to personal growth and is fully aware of the repercussions should he falter.

Orlando Pirates, in accordance with their commitment to upholding their values, had Lorch appear before a disciplinary committee where he reaffirmed his commitment to The Pledge. The club has taken note of his efforts and is satisfied with his accountability and willingness to grow.
Now that his suspension has been completed, Thembinkosi Lorch is eligible to rejoin club activities, effective December 13, 2023. Orlando Pirates believes in giving players an opportunity to learn from their mistakes and grow both on and off the field.
