Kolisi, who joined Racing after the 2023 Rugby World Cup, has faced Farrell on numerous occasions, including the memorable 2019 Rugby World Cup final in Yokohama, Japan, where the Springboks emerged victorious.

The two leaders also faced off in the semi-finals of the 2023 Rugby World Cup, with the Boks once again coming out on top.

It’s an interesting twist of fate that Farrell will be joining a club coached by Stuart Lancaster, the former England coach. Racing 92 has a history of attracting star flyhalves, including Andrew Mehrtens and Dan Carter from New Zealand, as well as Scottish international Finn Russell. Former Springbok great Frans Steyn also had a successful stint at the club.

Farrell’s move to Racing 92 means that he will miss the upcoming Six Nations competition as he takes a mental health break from international rugby. However, when he joins the club from next season, he will not only be reunited with familiar faces but will also have the opportunity to build new friendships, including with his former rival-turned-teammate, Siya Kolisi.

The sport has a unique way of forging connections and breaking down barriers, and the Kolisi-Farrell partnership at Racing 92 will be an exciting chapter in their rugby journeys.

As fans, we can look forward to seeing these two talented players combining their skills and bringing their competitive spirits to their new club. It’s a reminder that in the world of rugby, even the fiercest of rivals can become teammates and friends, united by their love for the game.
