Only a few months after accepting his resignation letter, Royal AM has rehired John Maduka as their head coach.
Maduka left Royal AM at the end of the previous season after leading them to third place in the DStv Premiership.
Many football fans were surprised by his departure from Royal AM, as he was regarded as the club’s best coach during the inaugural PSL season.
Maduka joined Maritzburg United shortly after leaving Royal AM, but his time there was short-lived as the team struggled to win games.
He was later fired by Maritzburg United, and rumours of him returning to Royal AM surfaced again, though Shauwn Mkhize recently denied them.
However, given Royal AM’s insecurity in the technical team, Maduka’s experience and knowledge of the team have always made him a strong candidate.
The length of Maduka’s contract has yet to be revealed, but the coach’s mandate is undoubtedly to keep Royal AM from being relegated.

It’s also unclear whether Maduka will be the head coach, with Abram Nteo as his assistant, or if the two will work together as co-coaches. However, Maduka’s return is official as Royal AM confirmed his return on its official Twitter account.
