According to Khumalo's lawyer, Advocate Mfesane Kasibito, the letter could only have been written by Khumalo as the registered contact person and leader of the party.

In a dramatic turn of events, angry supporters of the MK Party attacked their expelled leader, Jabulani Khumalo, outside the Johannesburg High Court.

The incident occurred as Khumalo was leaving the court after his legal battle against the party and former president Jacob Zuma was heard. This development has further complicated the already contentious case.

Amid the chaos, former president Jacob Zuma addressed the crowd outside the court. He stated, “I joined the struggle to ensure that the lives of our people are better. Therefore, I will not stop fighting for the betterment of the lives of our people.”

At the heart of the matter is Khumalo’s accusation against Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, the daughter of Jacob Zuma. Khumalo alleges that she wrote a fraudulent letter to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) to change the party’s leadership.

This letter, dated 9 April 2024, notified the IEC of Khumalo’s supposed resignation and requested that he be replaced by Zuma.

According to Khumalo’s lawyer, Advocate Mfesane Kasibito, the letter could only have been written by Khumalo as the registered contact person and leader of the party.

Kasibito has accused Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla of forging Khumalo’s signature and criticized the IEC for not verifying the authenticity of the letter with Khumalo himself.

The judgement in this complex matter has been reserved, leaving the political landscape in a state of uncertainty.

As tensions rise and accusations fly, the outcome of this legal battle will undoubtedly have significant implications for the MK Party and its leadership.
