Despite battling a recent bout of flu, President Cyril Ramaphosa is said to be recovering well and is expected to deliver the final State of the Nation Address (SONA) of his administration on Thursday night.
This significant event marks South Africa’s 30th year of democracy, and Ramaphosa’s spokesperson, Vincent Magwenya, has stated that it will be a central theme of his speech.

Taking place at the Cape Town City Hall, the joint sitting of both houses of Parliament will provide President Ramaphosa with an opportunity to reflect on his government’s achievements.
Notably, Ramaphosa played a pivotal role as the chair of the Constitutional Assembly that produced South Africa’s Constitution. Magwenya emphasised that the State of the Nation Address will serve as an invitation to ensure that no one is left behind in the nation’s efforts to build an inclusive society and foster economic growth.
Magwenya further reiterated the commitment of President Ramaphosa and his Cabinet to serve the nation with unwavering dedication until the end of their term.

He stated that the government’s focus remains steadfast, and the State of the Nation Address will set the tone for spending priorities leading up to the presentation of the national budget in two weeks’ time.
Parliament will engage in a two-day debate on the president’s address next week, followed by President Ramaphosa’s anticipated response on the following Thursday.
