Ngizwe Mchunu’s plans to stage a cultural carnival to rival the launch of the EFF manifesto at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban have been thwarted. Mchunu was forced to pack up and leave Gugu Dlamini Park, where he had intended to hold his event.
The situation at the park escalated quickly, with a joint team of SAPS and Durban Metro Police personnel arriving on site. Meanwhile, Mchunu found himself holed up inside his car, constantly glued to his phone.

Prior to the incident, Ngizwe Mchunu had warned the EFF leader, Julius Malema, to stay away from Moses Mabhida Stadium. Mchunu even went as far as to claim that Malema would be addressing an empty stadium due to the popularity of his own Amabhinca event.
However, it seems that Mchunu’s predictions were proven false, as the stadium was already packed with EFF members arriving in buses and cars from various parts of KwaZulu Natal.
The clash between Mchunu and the EFF highlights the intense political rivalry and competition for support in the region. Both events were aimed at attracting a large audience and gaining political momentum ahead of upcoming elections.
