Police Mum On Motive For AKA Killings After Six Arrested

The motive behind the murders of rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes and Tebello Motsoane remains a mystery.

Despite their suspicions, the police are unable to determine the exact reason behind the heinous crime. KZN police chief, Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, held a late-night briefing to update the media on the latest developments in the case.

While the police have apprehended six suspects linked to the murders, Mkhwanazi revealed that AKA was undoubtedly the intended target. The rapper was followed from the airport to the restaurant where he was spotted by the hitmen.

The initial plan was to shoot him inside his vehicle, but due to unforeseen circumstances, they decided not to wait and took action when he was outside greeting his friends.

Mkhwanazi clarified that the second victim, Tebello Motsoane, was merely a coincidence. The second shooter was at a considerable distance from AKA when the incident occurred. The police chief also mentioned that they have not ruled out the possibility of more arrests in the future.

Interestingly, Mkhwanazi revealed that one of the suspects coordinated the entire operation and was responsible for paying the hitmen. However, they cannot confirm whether this person acted under the instruction of someone else.

The investigation is ongoing, and they are diligently searching for any evidence that could shed light on the mastermind behind these murders.
