Woman Escapes Robbery And Shooting During E-Hailing Ride

The woman had requested the services of an e-hailing driver and became a passenger. However, instead of a safe journey home, she was forced to hand over her personal belongings, shot in the arm, and then pushed out of the vehicle.

A 41-year-old woman narrowly escaped a terrifying incident after she was shot, robbed, and pushed out of a vehicle during an e-hailing ride.

The details of the incident are still unclear, but the police are currently investigating the matter. The incident took place on Thursday evening in Wetton Road, Kenilworth, Cape Town.

The woman had requested the services of an e-hailing driver and became a passenger. However, instead of a safe journey home, she was forced to hand over her personal belongings, shot in the arm, and then pushed out of the vehicle.

After the traumatic ordeal, the victim sought refuge in a nearby shop and called the police. Western Cape Medical Emergency Services (EMS) also responded to the call for help.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, provided some insight into the investigation: “The circumstances surrounding the shooting incident are under investigation. We are working diligently to gather more information and identify the suspects involved.”

According to Sergeant Twigg, the victim ran to a nearby fuel station for assistance after being pushed out of the vehicle. The suspects are still at large, and the police are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Uber, the popular e-hailing platform, expressed their concern and sympathy for the victim. Although they have no records of the specific incident, they strongly condemn the actions of the perpetrators.

In a statement, Uber said, “The described event is completely unacceptable. No one should ever have to experience such a traumatic incident on any platform.”
