Five people were killed in three separate instances in the Western Cape this weekend, including two men who were allegedly set alight by a 24-year-old woman in Khayelitsha on Saturday.
Sergeant Wesley Twigg, a police spokeswoman, said Harare police were investigating two counts of murder after two adult men were set on fire in the Endlovini informal settlement on Saturday.
Another person, 32 years old, escaped uninjured.
“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
“A 24-year-old female was arrested in connection with the murders and will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court once she has been charged,” added Twigg.
On Friday night, two foreign nationals, both 35 years old, were shot dead at Mtombe Street, Brown’s Farm.
When authorities from the Nyanga police station arrived on the site, they discovered the victims with gunshot wounds to their bodies.
“The victims were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel. The motive for the attack is yet to be determined,” said Twigg.
According to authorities, the unidentified individuals fled the area and have yet to be apprehended.
They also claimed to have documented multiple robberies in which Facebook Marketplace users and e-hailing drivers were duped into going to Brown’s Farm to rob and, at times, attack them.
Brigadier Lindiwe Dyantyi, head of Nyanga police station, said the bulk of robbery victims examined claimed they had no idea where they were transported.
