The Hawks, South Africa’s Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation, have successfully busted a clandestine drug laboratory in Krugersdorp West.
This operation resulted in the arrest of nine suspects, including two women. The drug lab, believed to be a superlab operating on a factory scale, was discovered on Pulley Street, Boltonia.

The investigation was initiated after receiving information about the lab’s operation. The Serious Organised Crime Investigation team swiftly acted upon the intelligence and descended upon a dilapidated factory. Inside, they found a large quantity of chemicals used in the production of methamphetamine.
Colonel Katlego Mogale, spokesperson for the Hawks, confirmed that the suspects, ranging in age from 18 to 55, will appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court to face charges of manufacturing illicit drugs.
The Hawks’ provincial head in Gauteng, Major General Ebrahim Kadwa, commended the team for their excellent work and urged them to pursue the kingpins behind the operation.
Meanwhile, in Phalaborwa, Limpopo, the police have arrested three male suspects in separate locations for the unlawful possession of illicit drugs and suspected stolen tower batteries.
The investigation into illegal drug trafficking in the area led to the apprehension of a 41-year-old male foreign national found in possession of CAT, a highly addictive and illegal stimulant drug similar to methamphetamine.
