Two men have been arrested in Ekurhuleni after they were found in possession of a single cab Isuzu bakkie which was reported stolen in Mpumalanga.
The arrest was made by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) task team officers on Tuesday, October 24, at 7am in the Tsakane area.

The EMPD officers received information about a reported stolen light delivery vehicle spotted roaming the streets of Tsakane.
They followed the trail and tactically cornered the wanted white Isuzu single cab on Duyiswa Street. The vehicle matched the description given and had two male occupants.
Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, spokesperson for the EMPD, stated that the Isuzu bakkie was thoroughly searched and tested. It was confirmed that the vehicle was indeed reported stolen in the Mpumalanga province, specifically in Witbank on Monday night.

The two male suspects, aged 19 and 20, claimed that they were merely test-driving the bakkie after fixing its tyres at a workshop. However, the EMPD officers were not convinced by their story. The suspects were subsequently handcuffed and taken to the Tsakane police station.
The detained pair is expected to appear at the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court in the near future. Meanwhile, the recovered light delivery vehicle has been kept at the police station as evidence.
