The trial of four men accused of the murder of former African National Congress (ANC) Youth League Secretary-General Sindiso Magaqa is set to resume today in the Pietermaritzburg High Court.
Magaqa was fatally attacked in 2017 while returning from a branch meeting in Umzimkhulu.

The incident also left two female councillors, Nontsikelelo Mafa and Jabulile Msiya, with gunshot wounds. Tragically, Magaqa succumbed to his injuries a few months later in the hospital.
The trial, which has been ongoing, is scheduled to continue until February 23, 2024. The state is expected to present new evidence during this phase of the proceedings.
It has a list of approximately 50 witnesses, of which only less than 12 have testified thus far. Key witnesses, such as Msiya and Magaqa’s bodyguard, Thakabonwa Ngubane, have already given their testimonies.
