A tragic accident occurred after a “pens down” party in northern KwaZulu-Natal, resulting in the loss of three matric pupils from Mnyamande High School in Ntendeka, Dannhauser.
Three others are currently in the intensive care unit, fighting for their lives. The news has left the KwaZulu-Natal education MEC, Mbali Frazer, horrified.
Mbali Frazer expressed her deep sorrow and condolences, stating, “The loss of these young lives is tragic and weighs heavily on my heart as we wait in anticipation for the results of the NSC examinations, which will now, unfortunately, be awarded posthumously.”
Following the devastating incident, MEC Frazer led a delegation of senior officials from the education department to visit the Amajuba district-based school and offer their condolences to the bereaved families.
She empathized with the grieving parents, acknowledging that no parent should ever have to bury their own child.
MEC Frazer further emphasized the shared goal between the department, parents, and educators – the aspiration to see all learners prosper in life, as they are the future of the country. She called upon the community of Ntendeka and the rest of the Amajuba district to rally around the bereaved families during this difficult time.
This tragic accident serves as a somber reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of supporting one another in times of grief. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends affected by this devastating loss.
