Three Arrested For Alleged Kidnapping At Hoedspruit Lodge, Search For Victim Continues

According to available information, on the third day of their stay, January 12, at approximately 11:00, the trio was spotted by Game Rangers who fired gunshots and apprehended them.

Three suspects, aged between 37 and 45, have been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping of a 51-year-old man at a lodge in Hoedspruit, outside Phalaborwa.

The victim, Maduvula Norman Hlatswayo, had gone hunting with his friends at the Game Lodge on January 10, 2024, with the intention of camping there for a few days.

According to available information, on the third day of their stay, January 12, at approximately 11:00, the trio was spotted by Game Rangers who fired gunshots and apprehended them.

However, the others were released, and the victim has since disappeared. The matter was reported to the police, and a search operation was initiated on February 7, involving Detectives, First Responders, and the K9 Unit. Unfortunately, the victim could not be located.

Continuing the investigation, three suspects were arrested on Thursday in connection with the disappearance of the victim. They have been charged with kidnapping and are expected to appear before the Hoedspruit Magistrate’s Court on February 9, 2024.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, has urged the investigation team to leave no stone unturned in uncovering what transpired and ensuring justice is served.

Alternatively, the police can be contacted on the toll-free number 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS App.

The police investigation into this alleged kidnapping continues, with the hope of finding answers and bringing those responsible to justice.
