Mathimba Maluleke, a Hawks spokesperson in Limpopo, has confirmed that five suspects suspected of cash transit heists in the province will appear in the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
“Five suspects will be appearing this morning (Monday) before the Thohoyandou Magistrates Court,” said Maluleke.
Four of the suspects were arrested on Friday in Thohoyandou.
The arrests happened when police raided a suspected safe house in Makhado, where they planned to apprehend the group suspected of carrying out a string of CIT heists across the province.
In the ensuing gunfight between the gang and the police, eighteen suspects were killed.
Ten cars, including five high-powered performance vehicles and seven automatic guns, were also seized in Thohoyandou.
During the continued investigations, the fifth suspect was apprehended.
