A dramatic incident unfolded at a filling station in Tweefontein on Thursday morning when a group of armed robbers attempted to bomb an ATM.
Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, reported that the suspects stormed into the filling station at 1 am and detonated explosives in their bid to access the cash machine.

However, their plans were foiled when the police promptly responded to the scene. As the suspects tried to flee, they opened fire on the officers, leading to a shoot-out. During the exchange of gunfire, one suspect was fatally shot, while the police managed to apprehend two others.
The police are currently in pursuit of the remaining suspects involved in the incident. The two individuals who were arrested are facing charges of contravening the Explosives Act. They are expected to appear in the Kwamhlanga Magistrate’s Court in the near future.
