On Thursday morning, a devastating road accident claimed the life of a seven-year-old girl in Newlands, Durban.
The accident occurred just before 7 am on Inanda near Parlock Road, involving a taxi and a light motor vehicle. This tragic incident has left the community in mourning and raised concerns about road safety.

ALS paramedics responded swiftly to the scene, encountering severe wreckage from the collision. Spokesperson Garrith Jamieson reported that the accident involved a rear-end collision between a taxi and a vehicle transporting school children.

Upon assessment, paramedics found that the light motor vehicle had seven occupants. Sadly, a seven-year-old girl was found unresponsive and had sustained multiple injuries. Despite their best efforts, paramedics could not revive her, and she was declared deceased at the scene.
In addition to the tragic loss, five other children in the vehicle sustained various injuries. Paramedics promptly stabilized them on-site before transporting them to different hospitals in Durban for further medical care.
The driver of the vehicle was also injured. Fortunately, the occupants of the taxi were not harmed in the accident.
