Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. The incident took place on Bell Street in South Beach on Monday evening, where a man was shot multiple times.
Paramedics from the Advanced Life Support (ALS) arrived at the scene and discovered the victim, believed to be in his forties, with fatal gunshot wounds.

Garrith Jamieson, spokesperson for ALS Paramedics, stated that the area had been cordoned off by the police when they arrived at around 8pm. The details leading up to the shooting are still unknown, and the South African Police Service (SAPS) will be conducting further investigations.
In a separate incident, Gauteng police have successfully apprehended a suspect believed to be the mastermind behind a series of “blue light robberies.” The arrest took place in Dawn Park, Ekurhuleni, in the early hours of Monday morning.
The suspect was found in possession of blue lights, a traffic police uniform, a high-calibre firearm, ammunition, and a suspected hijacked motor vehicle. The arrest was made following information shared by the National Crime Intelligence, which indicated the suspect’s involvement in blue light robberies on freeways.
Colonel Mavela Masondo, spokesperson for the police, explained that a joint operation involving various law enforcement agencies was established to apprehend the suspect. This operation included members from the Gauteng Traffic Police Saturation Unit, Tracker Connect, Fidelity Specialised Services, and CAP Security Specialised Unit.
The suspect has been charged with multiple offences, including possession of unlicensed firearms, possession of a hijacked motor vehicle, and possession of ammunition. Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni commended the collaborative efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved in the successful arrest.
