There were heart-wrenching scenes as family members gathered to identify the bodies of nine suspects who were shot dead during a fierce gun battle with the police. The incident took place in Desai, Mariannhill, just outside Durban, on Wednesday.

“They had big guns, parading them openly on our streets. Walking at night became a perilous endeavour. We hope the remaining two suspects are swiftly apprehended, allowing our lives to return to normal.”
