Santos and her child’s father revealed in a shocking narrative that an obstetrician at the Hospital das Clinicas da UFMG in the Santa Efigenia neighbourhood of Belo Horizonte, the state capital of Minas Gerais, stood on top of the mother’s stomach during delivery and pulled the baby’s head off.
According to the baby’s traumatised family, she was still alive when she began to emerge from her mother’s body, but that’s not all – they believe the hospital was negligent.
They claim the hospital tried pressuring them into signing some documents to cover up the horrific incident.
Santos was admitted to the hospital on April 28, and her labour was induced not long before the unidentified obstetrician summoned the father to see the birth more closely.
The baby’s father told police in Brazil that he saw his daughter blink her eyes and open her mouth before the doctor practically decapitated her, proving that she was alive at the time. The doctor is currently being investigated.
The family said they received an apology from the doctor for what happened during the baby’s delivery and were later approached by a social worker from the hospital who informed them that the facility would pay for all burial costs if they agreed to sign a waiver claiming that an autopsy had already been performed.

Santos’ sister, Aryane, told a local publication that the mother isn’t coping with the loss of her daughter and is in constant sorrow.
“When she succeeds [at falling asleep], she wakes up with a start, thinking that she is hearing a [baby] scream. She can barely walk from 60 stitches. Her breast gives milk, and this is very sad, it is a trigger,” she is quoted as having said.
