An unfortunate incident occurred outside the Barberton magistrate’s court, where six suspects are currently on trial for the murder of a former Mpumalanga ANC councillor.
The incident resulted in a fatality, adding another layer of tragedy to an already grim situation.
The victim, Mandla Mamba, was fatally shot in Barberton in July of last year. On Tuesday, a fight broke out between individuals outside the court premises, escalating to a point where a gunshot was fired, claiming the life of a man.
In addition to the fatality, three other people were also injured during the altercation.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established. The police have opened a murder case and added three counts of attempted murder to their investigation. They are urging anyone with information that may aid in the probe or lead to the apprehension of the suspects to come forward.
