Emergency services in Johannesburg have reported a fire incident at an apartment block in Hillbrow. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported as firefighters promptly responded to the scene on the corner of Van der Merwe and Klein streets on Saturday afternoon.

Just a few days ago, EMS teams battled a fire that tore through the South African Revenue Service (Sars) building in Marshalltown, resulting in several street closures.

In addition, a tragic fire last month in the Usindiso Building in Albert Street claimed the lives of 77 people and left more than 80 injured. Shortly after this devastating incident, another building on Delvers Street was engulfed in flames.

Providing further details about the incident, Radebe stated, “Yesterday, just after 16:00, we received a call about a structural fire in Hillbrow. On arrival, we found a two-bedroom flat that had caught fire. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and everyone managed to be evacuated. The fire was contained to one apartment, and the building remains open for use.”
