In a recent incident on the N4 toll road in Mpumalanga, traffic officials apprehended a 35-year-old man for allegedly driving at an excessive speed of 190 kilometres per hour in a 100km per hour zone.
The man was reportedly driving a BMX X5 sport utility vehicle (SUV) at the time of the incident.
According to Moeti Mmusi, the spokesperson for Mpumalanga’s community safety, security, and liaison department, the suspect was arrested on Friday afternoon and subsequently released on bail by the police.
He is expected to appear before the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Monday to face charges related to his reckless driving.
The incident occurred as the man was travelling from Johannesburg towards Mbombela. Mpumalanga authorities take such cases of dangerous driving seriously, as they pose a significant risk to both the driver and other road users. By enforcing traffic regulations and holding offenders accountable, they aim to promote road safety and prevent accidents.

The accused driver’s release on bail, set at R3,000, was granted at the Ngodwana police station.
