Limpopo police have made an arrest in connection with the possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle. The 29-year-old man was apprehended for the alleged theft of a white Toyota Hilux GD6 double cab, which had been reported stolen in Garsfontein, east of Pretoria.
The vehicle was en route to the Beitbridge border post, where authorities suspect it was intended to be smuggled out of the country.

The arrest was the result of diligent investigative work and cooperation between the provincial murder and robbery unit, the tracking team, and a private security company. Acting on information received, the joint team intercepted the vehicle near the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Monday morning.

According to Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, spokesperson for the Limpopo police, the stolen vehicle was allegedly destined for illegal exportation out of South Africa. The suspect, a South African citizen, attempted to evade capture but was ultimately cornered along the N1 highway.
Ledwaba commended the law enforcement agents involved in the operation for their dedication and professionalism. He also praised the close cooperation between the police and the private security team, emphasising the importance of community-police partnerships in combating crime, including cross-border offences.
The 29-year-old suspect is scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, February 14. He will face a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.
