Man Arrested For Murder After Girlfriend Found With Multiple Stab Wounds

The suspect was traced and apprehended on the same day of the incident. The Provincial Commissioner of the Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has expressed deep concerns regarding the rising incidents of gender-based violence in the province.

In a tragic event that has shaken the community of Bunzhe Village, Thohoyandou, police have arrested a 40-year-old man following the fatal stabbing of his alleged girlfriend.

The incident occurred on Saturday, 01 June 2024, around 17h00. Law enforcement was promptly called to the scene, where they discovered the victim lying in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds inside her residence.

The police, upon arrival, immediately activated the members of emergency medical services. Unfortunately, the 30-year-old woman was certified dead at the scene.

Her identity is being withheld to facilitate ongoing investigations. Subsequently, a case of murder has been opened by the police, who are diligently pursuing leads to understand the motive behind this heinous act.

“As a society, we need to work together to end an embedded culture of violence. Violence against women and children should be discouraged at all costs. Men are supposed to protect women and children in their respective spaces,” she stated.

The suspect is scheduled to appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court soon as police investigations continue. The community remains on high alert, hoping for justice and a decrease in gender-based violence.
