Police in Giyani, Limpopo, are currently on the hunt for a man who allegedly committed a heinous crime out of jealousy. The incident took place on Sunday evening at Xitlakati village, just outside Giyani, in the Mopani District. It is a heart-wrenching tale of love, betrayal, and ultimately, tragedy.
According to the Limpopo police spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, the victim, identified as Amukelani Hlongwani, 33, was in a loving relationship with a woman. They were peacefully seated outside her homestead when their world turned upside down.
Out of nowhere, a second man, believed to also be involved with the woman, approached the couple. He demanded to speak to the woman, but she refused his request. Instead, she instructed him to return the following day. It was at this moment that the situation took a violent turn.
The suspect, driven by a mix of jealousy and rage, attacked Hlongwani. Desperately trying to save his own life, Hlongwani fled into the darkness of the nearby street. But unfortunately, the aggressor caught up with him, fatally stabbing him in the chest.
As the life slowly drained from his body, Hlongwani managed to inform a witness about his attacker’s identity. With this crucial piece of information, the police were able to identify the suspect. However, at present, he remains at large, and a manhunt is underway.
On Monday morning, the police received a distressing report of a murder, prompting them to rush to the scene. There, they discovered Hlongwani’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood on the street. The visible stab wound served as a chilling reminder of the violence that had occurred just hours before.
The victim’s sister, devastated by the loss, identified him as Amukelani Hlongwani of Mushiane village. The entire community mourns his untimely death, and justice must be served for this senseless act.
The police are urging anyone with information that can aid in the investigation to come forward. This tragedy has left a family shattered, a community in shock, and a nation questioning the depths of human cruelty. It is imperative that the perpetrator faces the consequences of his actions.
